A Powerful Partnership
The Williamsburg Symphony Orchestra League is a group of dedicated music enthusiasts whose experience, interests and generous volunteer hours have been supporting the orchestra for more than 30 years. The Williamsburg Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1984 with the goal of bringing classical music to children. Today it is an internationally-recognized professional orchestra in the heart of historic Williamsburg.
The WSOL has supported this transformation through service, outreach, and innovative fundraising. From funding the Symphony’s first annual pops concert in 1996 to contributing nearly 4,000 volunteer hours annually, the League has worked side-by-side with the orchestra to make it the outstanding ensemble it is today. Since 2000, the League has contributed over $575,000 to the WSO, a record amount for a support organization of its size.

A unique and imaginative Kingsmill home was the surprise venue provided by Liz Moore & Associates for a delightful Encore Affair fundraiser on May 11 - "Mark Twain & the Magnificent Mystery House."
Actor Ryan Clemens, a Twain descendant attired as the 70-year-old humorist, entertained the 60 guests with droll stories and witty comments as well as fielded impromptu questions about his remarkable life. At the beginning of the evening, guests were treated to a delicious wine and buffet dinner along with tours of the remarkable home which embodied soaring ceilings, fieldstone and stunning redwood interiors, described by Tim Parker, listing realtor with Liz Moore & Associates. Then "Mr. Twain" was introduced by Paul Try, League President, who had arranged the event, supported by several League members.
Encore Affairs is the League's most popular fundraiser providing a diverse series of parties and special events that benefit the Williamsburg Symphony Orchestra. The Williamsburg Symphony is now enjoying its 33rd year and 13th season with the dynamic Janna Hymes as Music Director.
