Williamsburg Symphony Orchestra's Masterworks 2 Concert Takes Place Oct. 29 and 30

Williamsburg, Va. (Oct.1, 2018) – The Williamsburg Symphony Orchestra (WSO) will host its second concert of the season,Masterworks 2, on Oct. 29 and 30. Concerts will take place at the Kimball Theatre at 7:30 p.m. The featured selections for Masterworks 2 are:


·       Overture to Il signor Bruschino                                                               Gioachino Rossini                                                                                                                      


·       Pas de six ballet from William Tell                                                          Gioachino Rossini                                                                                                                      


·       Masques et bergamasques,op. 112                                                            Gabriel Fauré                                                                                                                        


·       Symphony no. 2 in D major, op. 73                                                          Johannes Brahms                                                                                                                    


Music Director Janna Hymes will conduct the concerts. “The talents of the orchestra are on display this October,” says Maestra Hymes. “Our October concert will feature two charming works by Rossini: his upbeat, spirited Overture to Il signor Bruschino and the moving Pas de six ballet from William Tell, both of which have never been performed before by the WSO. Next is a work selected by our wonderful audience as a favorite piece: the witty and fantastic Masques et bergamasques of Fauré, followed by Brahms's Symphony no. 2, a masterpiece well-suited to our fine musicians.”
