Music Librarian

Duties: • Purchase, rent, and prepare scores and parts for all performances. • Prepare cost analysis of music for each season, including live stream or recording rights.• Apply for Livestream or recording rights as necessary.• Communicate the bowing schedule and facilitate adherence with principal string players. • Together with the music director/conductor, select performing editions, mark bowings, cuts,or other edits, then distribute parts to musicians. • Maintain the library of music holdings, record repertoire performance data, and assess thelong-range acquisition needs.• Distribute parts to all musicians at least 2 weeks before the first rehearsal of a series.• Attend the first rehearsal and the last concert of each series. • Other duties as needed.

Skills Needed: • Bachelor’s Degree from a 4-year accredited institution• Experience working with a professional symphony – 2 years preferred• Music notation experience• Attention to detail and stellar organizational skills• Ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment• Ability to prepare comprehensive reports and present ideas clearly and concisely in written and oral form• Book Binding (Sewing, Staple, Tape), Assembling, Hand Manuscript • Computer Skills: MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook), Music Editing Software
